Intensive Russian Assaults Disrupt Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, according to city officials.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and implementing penalties," he wrote in a public message.

He said that 450 drones and several dozen rockets attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after nights of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
